Provox® XtraFlow ™ HME is a specialized device for a single use, intended for patients who are breathing through a tracheostoma. It is a heat and humidity exchanger (HME) that heats and humidifies the inhaled air by retaining the heat and moisture from the device's exhaled air. It also partially recovers lost respiratory resistance. In patients with speech prosthesis or surgical speech fistula, speech may also be facilitated. Provox® XtraFlow is intended for use during exercise as it has less respiratory resistance. Continuous use of Provox Xtra HME is recommended. During continuous use an improvement in lung function is likely to occur in most patients and respiratory problems such as. for example, cough and mucus production, are subsequently reduced.

  Insert the Provox Xtra HME cassette into the connector on the fixture. Breathe normally. To speak, push down the Provox Xtra HME cassette cover with one finger. Always release the cap completely during inhalation to avoid greater respiratory resistance. To remove the Provox Xtra HME cassette, hold the fixture with two fingers and remove the HME cassette from the holder.
