Hypertonic saline solution for inhalation is a widely used and recognized form of treatment to increase the mobilization of secretions in the lower respiratory tract. The osmotic effects of salt on the mucous membrane of the respiratory tract help to loosen mucus which can then be more easily released through coughing. This provides considerable relief to patients with acute bronchiolitis, cystic fibrosis, COPD or bronchiectasis. Mucoclear can be used with jet-operated nebulizer compressors, ultrasonic nebulizers or vibrating membrane nebulizers. Sterile, preservative-free, ready-to-use ampoules. It is available in a 3% concentration, especially recommended for the treatment of acute bronchiolitis, and 6%, especially recommended for cystic fibrosis.
